BKK 2013 Day 2!

we decided to go seperate ways to do the shopping so we can be more efficient and so we can also have more food. haha.. chris eats very little!

the beginning of day 2!

first meal was A&W!

ROOT BEER!

the waffle sandwich was quite special, the nuggets are nice!

enjoying his little float!

we went on to shop around Platinum Mall and i was very disciplined not to any how buy!

we also explored this mall ....

recommended by Aunty Nana!

and on the way to the halal restaurant for lunch, Ali bought a coconut ice cream...

the restaurant he recommended...

pickled cucumber...

the pickled cucumber was really nice. the chilli sauce was also pretty good!

and the lime drink here was also really good!

so was their thai iced tea...

we shared a veg dish..

and i like their tom yam soup! not too spicy...

my shrimp paste fried rice with prawns....

fried chicken...

and he recommended the kebab...

and the mutton was surprisingly acceptable to me!

we did quite a bit of shopping!

taking a break in the hotel with thai soda water!!

met up with dear dear and chris in the hotel where they brought us to another place for dinner. The place is called Somboon Seafood...

while waiting for seats...

They have a few outlets....

BUT!! According to dear dear and Chris, you should only go to the Surawong one else you will tio tok!

we had a steamed fish...

steamed prawns.. also very fresh and pretty tasty but with the records set by those from T&K last night, these were not comparable..

oyster egg....

also good but still, the one from Chinatown Scala is much much nicer.

BBQ squid...

BBQ prawns...

as mentioned, the ones at T&K is much nicer and also much cheaper! heh

one miserable portion of crab...

prawn vermicelli...

nice! but the one from Chinatown Scala is still much nicer.

after dinner, we headed for massage (oh gosh, can't remember the name of this place)...

very nice place and not expensive at all...

but because we were there late, they could only allow foot massage.

after the massage, dear dear wanted to head back to Chinatown to buy those snacks as souvenirs so we headed back to T&K again!!

we had bird nest!

and a glorious amount of yummy prawns!

BKK 2013 Day 1!

its all quite exciting. started off with good rates on SQ to BKK and got together on a trip to BKK!

Chris had a free ticket on Cathay so he went over first to wait for us.

Dear dear, Ali and myself met up in the airport early in the morning!

Dear dear and me!

Ali and me!

onflight meal... cheese omelette... chicken bee hoon and scrambled egg. one of it is Ali's halal meal!

and the two workaholics as soon as we arrived...

we took a cab over to the hotel... it was too early to check in so we deposited our luggage and ali at the reception. hahaha.. Ali was busy checking his work emails whilst dear dear and i shopped the mall we stayed in.

we also went to the Mcdonalds and tried their savoury pie!

ham and egg pie! very nice!

the hotel we chose for our trip is Glow, located along Pratunam area....

came strongly recommended by Squiddy and apparently it is a very new hotel. Also, the location is really good. Right opposite Platinum Mall, along the same stretch as Amari Watergate.

the lobby area...

we were welcomed with some complimentary lemon grass drink while we were waiting to be allowed to check in...

after Chris arrived, we were still not able to check in hence we decided to head for lunch first!

Dear dear and Chris brought us to this place called Som Tam located near Siam Square. They said this is one of their must visit place when they are in BKK.

amazingly good iced coffee...

fried chicken wing which dear dear raved about...

but i thought was ok.

sticky rice...

the crowd...

papaya salad...

some noodle like dish with pork floss on it...

pork slices...

and for dessert, this coconut cake where its water chestnut on top... very yummy!

missing it now!

rainbow cake which was not spectacular...

and papaya salad with chillied crab...

poor ali didnt really have much to eat cos some of the dishes had pork.

us...

dear dear and chris...

we headed over to Siam Square and found the Yoku Moku counter!

after a short visit at Siam Square, we headed back to the hotel and finally we got to check in! we going a joint room...

the room was white based, clean and all. not very sound proof thou.. you can hear the walking along the corridors.

we took a rest while dear dear and Chris headed to tailor some shirts.

We met up around dinner time and they brought us over to Chinatown...

met this rather funny ang moh hawker...

and because dear dear and chris raved about two places along chinatown, we decided to patronise both places!

first is this Zhong Guo Cheng sharkfins... Chinatown Scala Sharkfins Restaurant...

their oyster egg is super good! its soooo tasty! especially the omelette parts. omg so good!

and so is the crab vermicelli (around 600 baht)... also crazy good! crazy tasty!

the vermicelli absorbed the essence of the crab.. sooooooo good! it was so good we want to come back for it again!

each of us had a bowl of shark fins each and it was really cheap! i think it was only 300 baht?

and after our first meal here, we walked a bit further down to T&K seafood. Its a bit hard to miss T&K coz its so packed that tables are out along the streets...

and we are here for these............

oh and i love soda water!

the bbq prawns are soooooooo good!!

cockles too!

we also shared a bbq fish....

YUMMEH!!!

after dinner, we headed over to Asiatique...

its one of the newer night market in BKK...

they have a really nice flyer too!

ali intrigued by a head massager...

after the shopping, we headed for massage!

the guys did foot reflex while we girls did back massage!

back to hotel!
