Halloween 2016 @ Woodgrove

Last year, we both ordered this skeleton attire from asos which came horribly late so we pretty much did nothing for halloween. We agreed that we'll make it this year to head together to the annual carnival at wood grove!

It appears every year on Halloween, the residents at Woodgrove estate will decorate their houses to welcome kids to come by to do a Treat or Tricks!

probably about 2 days ago, i asked my dearest mil whether she would like to bring the kids and she onz me today and even got there earlier than i did!


so i had 2 super heroes and one skinny bones and one 白发魔岳父 waiting for me....

 

it was quite a huge estate, we took a while to find each other and there was quite a turnout...

 

its damn cool seeing how sporting the residents are!

 

finally we found them and Lucas was a match with us!

On a totally unrelated note, if you have elderly at home and would like to install grips and antislips, go to the HDB Website, search under EASE. They will send contractors to come help fix them up at a nominal price. We just did ours today! Recommended by my aunt after mum was hospitalised previously. Don't say good things never share :)

Homemade goodness at Rice and Fries!

I have been missing the poached salmon from Rice & Fries! And the mashed potato that comes along with it. Brought van down and after one mouth, she said "this is homemade mash" and indeed and that's what I love about it! It's not those instant ones and it still has bits of potato in it. Super yummy! 

Van went for the crab risotto...

Also major thumbs up!

Always a good time and always like family at Rice & Fries! 

My Birthday Celebration 2016 with Charming playing Junior Monopoly!

i often rave about how sweet Charming can be right? Well, check this out for yourself....

Such a charmer at this young age!

God knows how long he will continue to work his charms on me like that - i mean, he's already showing signs of growing up so its matter of time. But yeah, this bubble of being his Princess is still so sweet - its a very warm fuzzy feeling!

Dinner is over at Rice & Fries (of course!) haha

and its a wonderful day to be here coz Chef Ken is trying out some new recipes, hopefully he adds them to the menu! 

Like this salmon salad....

It is crazy good! the salmon is medium rare so its really tender. The sauce is sesame sauce and its so addictive, makes me just want to keep going. The cherry tomatoes are so sweet!

Another R&D dish today is Poutine! Chef Ken's version of it...

thick cut fries! mashed potato, CHEESE!! the gravy was SOOO GOOD! he made the mashed potato on his own and it was incredible. Im so missing it now! Especially since the mashed coz its not those instant kind where its too smooth. I like my mashed to be with some textures, like some slightly chunkier bits of potato amidst the mash, oh god i love it!

and for mains, i ordered a poached salmon because i saw on the menu it read.. comes with mashed potato...

yeah, i couldn't get over their mash! freaking awesome!

and the salmon, doneness was also great! Pink on the inside, soft and yummy!

Food aside, Rice & Fries' appeal to families will be how its a very family oriented restaurant. Simply coz Chef Ken himself is a father of 3 super adorable young boys. They hang around the place at times and that allows the busy chef to balance work and still spending quality time with his precious little ones.

Xinhui was also roped down to come catch up with me over dinner today...

and more so also coz Charming wanted to kai zhang his monopoly junior!

the junior version is a much simpler version (i know, obviously) and instead of properties, you buy parties! theres the princess party! 

andddddd there really is a princess birthday party! They surprised me with one of my favourite desserts they serve, rainbow cheese cake!

always a fun and yummy time at Rice & Fries! they are just like family!
