HK 2011 with Kaizhi Day 2 - Zhuhai!

day 2 in hong kong! we made it a point to wake up early today! the other food item lingering in my mind aside from Sheng Ji Porridge, is the Australian Milk Company's breakfast set! Sadly, i forgot whether its the australian milk company or Yee Shun milk company. i only remember its the steamed milk place so we got directions from our hotel concierge to the nearest steamed milk cafe.

on our way there..

Yee Shun Milk Company....

hot steamed milk...

their steamed milk is damn good!! really smooth and i always feel like this is good for my complexion!

as soon as we entered, i already kind of know the scrambled eggs place i love is the Australian Milk Company instead of Yee Shun. But we decided to go ahead with breakfast here.

i ordered wrongly, i wanted scrambled egg but i wrongly ordered fried eggs....

the fried eggs were normal.

kaizhi also ordered a spiced meat noodles...

which i also felt was normal.

i didnt manage to try their scrambled eggs so couldnt really do a comparison with Australian Milk company.

us!

having felt kind of unsatisfied from my breakfast, i roped kaizhi to walk over to tong tat store to buy my favourite curry fishballs! they have the best (i've tried) in hong kong....

kaizhi also agrees that their curry taste is good and the texture of the fish ball is good also.

took the train over to tsim sha tsui (China Ferry Terminal)...

to look for the port where we can take the ferry over to Zhu Hai...

got our tickets!

we are going to Zhuhai!

the ferry...

kaizhi quickly fell asleep again, she was worried she would get sea sick!

and we have arrived!!

we arrived at the Jiu Zhou Port...

its actually our first time here and we received loads of instructions from people who have visited. they all told us its very easy to find the main (or supposedly only that tourists go to) shopping area. its called Di Xia Guang Chang and its right by the port.

we walked out of the port and felt semi lost.

but we were attracted by the really nice seaside view...

TAKE PICTURES!!

cute lil girl whose dad was helping us take pictures. i tried to coax her to take wif us by telling her our cartoon on our tops are the same! heh...

kaizhi made me take this!

we saw no malls in sight! decided to ask around and we were told we need to take a cab over to Di Xia Guang Chang. So we did. It was actually a short ride away.. maybe around 5 to 10 mins? That was when we realised Zhuhai probably had like a couple of ports also and Di Xia Guang Chang is near another port.

we really did feel like we were in China with the scenery around and taxi uncle was singing theresa teng!

and we have arrived!

the mall was really quite big! shops were more of our local far east plaza style.

over here, bear in mind to BARGAIN, BARGAIN, BARGAIN!

the good part about here is the shop assistants are usually very polite, even if you dont buy etc, they will tell u, its ok, come back again.

one of the first shops we patronised was this iphone cover shop...

kaizhi zhng-ed her iphone!

we shopped around till around 1 plus. den i urged kaizhi for lunch. not really coz we were hungry but more of coz i was reminded by Joe MUST TRY JIN YUE XUAN. and its a dim sum thingy so i was worried we'd miss the timing.

one of the shop assistant was very nice to lend us her fone to call Jin Yue Xuan to check for directions and to make reservations. The lady at Jin Yue Xuan upon realising that we are at Di Xia Guang Chang, she told us they just opened an outlet called Jin Yuan at Charming (Lai Mei Li) Hotel which is right where Di Xia Guang Chang is located. She advised us to head there instead. We walked around a bit and found our way!

view from the lift...  this is the big china!

Jin Yuan...

dim sum lunch!

we ordered a salt and pepper fish thingy...

this item is SUPER NICE! its really yummy! its a fish dish but the fish is SUPER SOFT!! its really nicely fried dat the exterior is slightly crispy yet so soft when u bite it. even the bones are really really soft (and perhaps consumable). the salt and pepper seasoning was done just right.. its REALLY GOOD!

fried wanton...

which i didnt like.

feng jiao...

xiao long bao...

har gao...

milk custard bun...

and kaizhi saw another table order some claypot noodles which looked nice...

turned out it was not! it was quite tasteless! kaizhi told me.. " next time when i want to order something which u think may not be nice, please stop me ". we didnt really eat the noodles at all. haha

some coffee dessert...

and creme brulee...

our lunch...

quite annoying that they missed out my shark fins guan tang jiao and later told me its out of stock already. Joe highly recommended it as a must try so we head to head back the nxt day for it.

what i didnt expect was they actually had a very state of the art toilet!

got changable toilet seat cover somemore!

and overall, the meal was really cheap (although oops.. i cannot remember how much)

playing with kaizhi's new fone...

after lunch, i told kaizhi i want to go for a hair wash. we chanced upon this salon called Sifado. its not exactly a typical hair salon but its does more like hair treatments etc...

they will first do an analysis of ur hair and scalp...

omg! see! thats my hair magnified!!

quite scary actually! looks like insects!

and btw, i came in here coz its DAMN CHEAP! only $38 RMB! which is probably only SGD $7 plus for a hair treatment!

the assistant was also very very friendly and nice...

kaizhi went further shopping while i did my hair.

and den we shopped around further! bot so much dat i couldnt put them all in my bag!

even kaizhi, she bought a pair of frames so she decided to wear them since she didnt want to squoosh them inside her shopping bag...

soon it was dinner time and we took a taxi down to Hai Xian Jie (seafood street). thanks to Joe to had watsapp me pictures of the namecards of these food places.

Seafood street, is a challenge. not for the faint hearted. you have been warned!

as our taxi drove into seafood street, we saw a whole stretch of different restaurants. outside each restaurant, there are servers stationed to pull customers into their respective restaurants. we decided to stick to the one that Joe recommended which is Lao Yu Jia Le...

as soon as we entered the restaurant, we were urged by the server who attended to us to choose our seafood.. they led us to the other door where its a stretch of market place like area where there are different different hawker like stalls selling seafood....

and this is where as u walk to browse, they will be aggressively calling out to u, making u buy from them. even if you are just browsing, they, including your server will be pressuring you to buy... all these were a bit too much to handle for kaizhi. haha...

they did however, seem to have very interesting spread of seafood though! if only they would let us browse n 'shop' in peace!

we also did face some difficulty though! we didnt change enough RMB. haha.. so in the end we used that as a very good excuse not to buy many things.

also, remember to BARGAIN, BARGAIN, BARGAIN!

After you choose the seafood you want, the server in charge will ask you how you want to cook the seafood you have bought....

little abalones..

salt and pepper cooked lobsters...

steamed fish...

clams...

lobster sashimi...

fried fish egg...

and super big oysters!! BBQ-ed!

the seafood was overall fresh and i'd say yes it was quite an experience. i would go back again and this time round i'd want to order different things. the taste wise i wont say its spectacular but it was overall ok.

after dinner, we wanted to take a cab back to Di Xia Guang Chang area. it was almost around 10 plus 11 when we finished dinner. we were told by camilia that we can actually go for spa and their spas apparently allows u to stay over so there was no need to book for hotels. the taxi driver recommended us one spa.

this is their 'menu'...

and see!

if you dont understand chinese, what its saying is if you spend above RMB  45, you can bath for free. and after 12 midnight, if you take any massage for more than 2 hours, you are welcome to stay and sleep there till 2 pm the next day.

we were brought to the ladies section...

given a wrist token each..

for us to keep our belongings inside.

we showered and headed out to the mass area for our pedicure...

their pedicures dont include colouring but they will cut and shape your nails for you.

each seat comes with a private tv set... very comfy seats!

i had a male pedicurist! he was so good with the cutting etc!

after the pedicure section, whenever you are ready (we were actually really sleepy n tired coz we were so comfy already), we were directed for our body scrub.

oh, n fret not abt toothbrush n toothpaste (we actually went to buy coz we forgot to bring ours from hong kong).. they provide!

a quick glimpse of the shower area...

and dressing area where you can blow ur hair etc...

we went on to have our body scrub where they applied milk on us and scrubbed and scrubbed. it was damn good coz u really see a lot of dirt scrubbed out!

after that, we went to a room and had 2 hours of massage! and coz kaizhi dozed off, her masseur decided to concentrate on me as well and she said to me, i can try shuang fei! WOW!

after 2 hours, they left us to sleep in our room for the night.
