My first ambulance ride

It’s been quite a day.

We were both sleeping when we suddenly heard quite a thud and I heard my dad calling out to me “girl Ah”.

We jumped up and as I walked out, I saw my dad lying on the floor with his hands on his face. I was in quite a shock and my mind was running wild. Clearly, he fell. Unsure of his condition and some panic going through becoz he recently went through ballooning and have been really frail since.

He could still talk to me and while he was lying on the floor, he wasn’t lying flat. Luckily Bunny was around and she rushed over to pick up a pillow so my dad could lie on it.

Luckily my dad could still talk and communicate. He said he fell and I asked him to slowly remove his palms from his face which he had been placing since and the next thing I knew I saw a lot a lot of blood. It began flowing along his eyes and till now when I think about it I still cringe. We tried to clear the blood using tissue and I asked him to let me call the ambulance but he was unwilling.

Clearly concerns about the bills. It was only when I assured him he is covered under an accident insurance policy that he allowed us to call the ambulance. His recent episodes have clocked up quite some bills and because of his medical history, he can’t get any insurance coverage. And he didn’t get them while he was able to.

The ambulance came (not as fast as we thot) but probably around 10 plus or more minutes. They asked some questions and did some work to try to stop the bleeding.

We were informed by distance we can only be sent to ttsh so we went ahead despite hearing all the horror stories about ttsh lack of beds and wards.

In fact I was just at ttsh yday visiting Bree. And the horror story of her having to wait 30 hours before she got a room.

We concluded it’s true in Singapore you can die but you can’t fall sick. Coz it’s f expensive to see a private doctor yet the govt hospital is just super inefficient.

Went thru the whole admission and All thingy.

Till now, i really keep having the morning episode replaying in my head. It’s really scary thinking about it and every moment is just cringe worthy.

Dad went thru scans and was placed at a temporary ward....

Thankfully we were informed the injuries were external. But the whole thot of what if we weren’t around was just scary. He wld just have continued to lie there with no help.

:(
