Birthday Present from Izzy - Cameron Highlands Day 1!

we were awakened by the coach driver around 7 plus 8 am to say we have arrived at cameron highlands and its time for breakfast!

i was feeling cold in my legs in the coach coz i was wearing a dress. i usually will choose to wear dresses for coach rides to malaysia coz its so much easier when we visit the toilet coz their toilets are usually the squatting kind.

as we got off the coach, i began to regret the clothes i packed. i packed 2 dresses and 2 shorts. nothing long. i was shivering in the cold! siao liao!

we alighted at the brinchang town area so we walked around the shops that looked open. most of us on the coach chose to do our breakfast at this Hong Kong Hotel & Restoran....

i ordered a hot dog and egg maggi while izzy had a fish ball kway teow. my noodles were decent. i even 加料! i added the ham and fried wanton.. but they were not nice.

and we both ordered a cuppa cameron milk tea each for the cold morning....

after the breakfast, i was feeling much better, not as cold. in fact, for the rest of the trip hereon, the weather wasnt really chilli. my choice of attire turned out to be just right.

we headed back to the coach where the travel agent introduced some of their day tour packages and we signed up for one for this afternoon that brings us to a few places other than the strawberry farm!

after that, we were individually dropped off at our different hotels.

Ours was the Cameron Highlands Resorts. We've seen very nice pictures of the hotel and we're filled with anticipation. We were not disappointed. It was a great hotel stay!

as we stepped in, we were drawn by the decor of the place. very colonial style...

this is the hotel lobby...

we did our check in but were told rooms are not available. we arrived around 10 plus and normal check in time is apparently 3 pm so we took seats around the lobby....

we were served complimentary tea while we waited....

and of coz we cam whored a bit...

and as we were getting bored (and dozing off in the lobby), the hotel staff offered to show us the spa and said they had an area there we can rest which is much more comfortable so they brought us over....

the spa is beautiful!!

check out the bath tubs!! got tv summore! SHIOK!!

their famous tea bath or something....

we didnt take up the spa though izzy did kindly offer it to be part of the birthday present. he was really sweet. this trip is actually my birthday present from him!

we were led to a pavilion like place where we could rest in those plushy arm chairs...

the staffs were amazing.. they served us different types of tea! from camomile with honey (which taste amazing good) to ginger tea....

and they even got towels for me to cover my legs which felt soooo good. the towels were huge and acted like blankets which i told izzy i want to kapok back to fight the air con on the coach back home! hahahaha

they also drew down the curtains for us to have a rest. we had a good long sleep in the pavilion.

by around 1 plus, our rooms were still not available. i was kind of annoyed and tired and cant wait to change etc. our day tour is going to start around 2 plus and i was worried we wont have enough time to wash up.

the receptionist was nice enough to arrange an alternative room for us to freshup up while our room was getting prepared...

the room was beautiful!

we rushed to get prepared and headed to the lobby again to wait for our tour guide...

our tour guide is Kumar. a funny guy and pretty nice fellow.

first stop was the cactus point...

quite bo liao one actually. just see pots n pots of flowers and cactus...

next stop was the organic farm. kumar giving some introduction....

again, quite boring so i left izzy to listen while i was 'shopping'...

they had incredibly sweet sweet corn which u can eat RAW! yes! its super sweet!

Ringgit $10 for 4! i jio-ed another family to split the purchase with me coz i know we cant finish 4 (which actually i later realised we can and its so addictive).

the fruits they were selling were in general very sweet. there was this apple that didnt look like apple but was super juicy and tasted like honey dew!

next stop was chrysanthemum farm... sian.. why not go rose garden.. but oh anyway, the roads there are freaking narrow! sometimes i feel that one slight turn and it can cause our whole van to fall off the slope. but kumar's driving is sibei ZAI!! he proved himself on many occassions! damn impressed by him!!

anyway, heres some gek huay for u!

i like this shot! i zi pai one! nice hor?

next stop is the bird's eye view of the water cress valley. kumar say the water cress say until so healthy, i plan to make aishah cook it for dinner at least 3 times a week from now one!

and den its the strawberry farm!

we paid ringgit $30 to allow us to pluck half a kg of strawberries! $50 is for 1 kg. but like kumar said, usually half a kg will already be in stomach liao!

there were a couple of the person in charge following us around, telling us cannot eat there but i guess everyone just enjoys the thrill of getting caught so everyone keep tao jiak! hahhaaha

the strawberry farm looks a little different from what i thot strawberry farms look like. i thought it would be bushes and bushes but ok, truth is i didnt really know how strawberries are supposed to look like when they are grown.

next is the lettuce farm...

super green those lettuce!

tried their butterhead juice!

i chose the ice blended one! i thot it would taste very vegetable-ish but it tasted sour.. like lime juice lidat. izzy quite likes it but i didnt.

so cute! reminds me of the times when i was still a toddler...

dinner was provided in this tour. its steamboat - apparently steamboat is a popular food in cameron. dar dar, eileen and liping all said they had steamboat.

we were brought to hotel titiwangsa (which titiwangsa is also the tour company in charge of the tour packages) for the meal....

the soup was pretty good even on its own. its cabbage soup like. the meat etc were all portioned already like a set whereas vegetables were free flow.

decent meal but didnt find the steamboat super good.

i texted dar dar to ask her which steamboat is the nice one she mentioned. she replied me saying she cant remember and that she said find the one with the most people. kong liao like bo kong lidat! hahahahahhaa

after the meal, we were allowed a short shopping time at brinchang. which basically also got nothing much to buy but we bought kfc back!

we were sent back to our posh hotel! Kumar commented that this is actually the most expensive hotel in cameron highlands!

as we got back to the hotel, we finally got to be back in our room and the hotel has already transferred our bags over...

our room is so nice!

the tv where izzy is glued to for his euro matches...

the complimentary fruits!

chey! 早知道 we didnt need to pluck strawberries! hahaha.. but no la, we probably would still do it coz its fun!

our room is the junior suite (room 25) and its got standing shower AND bathtub!

and so sweet! on the bed was a very pretty pink rose...

i was enjoying the strawberries by myself while izzy went to wash up.

room was cooling even without aircon! if only singapore had this kind of weather!
