our last day in hong kong!
we were doing exactly the same thing as we were going to leave the room.. to spray and spray and spray our perfume on us, to finish it so we don't need to bring the heavy bottle back! hahaha
we took the hotel shuttle bus over to kowloon where the airport express is. we were really early coz we wanted to check out the H&M at Elements and probably consider getting an earlier flight back but the earlier flight back was a little too early.
over at Elements mall, frm the MTR station up to the mall, as i couldnt manage the luggage with the escalator, ah yee displayed how zai she was!
YES! she managed both luggages up the escalator!
i am convinced if i should need to find a bf/hubby, that person needs to be as zai!
during this whole trip, although for a good number of days, ah yee was alone shopping in the day and for her dinner but i would say it was a trip where we really got to spend some quality time together which we have not been having for the past many years. we used to be very very close when we were much younger.
on the airport express trip, we got engaged in a conversation. it started with ah yee trying to ask me why i actually enjoy watching Sex & The City while she typically couldnt get past episode two. as i rolled my eyes giving her a it-doesn't-bother-me-anymore-if-you-don't-enjoy-the-show look, she luffed and asked me why despite how we actually grew up together, we grew up to become so different.
i thought about it for awhile and i answered her. Despite how we actually spent all those times together in the office (it was sort of a family business) and after office hours at each other's homes, our dads were one of the main difference. My dad had been considered one of the more modern and somewhat western influenced kind. He was the kind who would bring us for western food etc and hence since young i've always prefered western cuisine to chinese or local. i've got the chance to try ruffles chips and cream soda instead of jack and jill probably much before others did. and that got us on to missing of chek gong. how he would call my name and shake his head and sigh when i was naughty or stubborn. he would go .. " huijun.... "
suddenly, memories and memories of chek gong just flooded my mind and i believe it spiralled the same effect on ah yee too. as i went on to recollect about him, ah yee chocked and said.. " i really miss chek gong ". So did i. By this time, tears were welling up in both our eyes. Chek gong was really a good man, a grandfatherly figure to me. when i was really young and when ah yee and i quarrelled, he would walk me home and i always remember how he would go.. " huijun ah huijun... " and how despite being a man in clutches, he was stronger than any other man i know and more capable than a lot of other man i know.
he even helped us in our science card projects!
we did subsequently break into laughter when we saw how we looked silly. But i really want to say, chek gong, we really miss you.
anyway, we had wanted to have Lei Gardens for lunch over at Elements Mall coz for the whole trip we didnt really have roast meats. We ended up having it at the airport...
roast meat and char siew...
the roast meat and char siew was ok. decent enough to eat but not wow. we later found 正斗 inside the departure hall which looks super good. sadly we were too full to eat.
roast goose..
wanton soup..
beef brisket noodles...
the beef brisket noodles were pretty good! nicely stewed beef brisket.
正斗 ...
i recall bob telling me their osmanthus cake is a must try so we stopped by for it...
it was .. hmm.. not my kind of dessert.
and while queuing for it, i saw their chee cheong fan, couldnt help but feel dat we must try it coz the skin looks so damn thin!
and they have the pig liver chee cheong fan too!
yummy!
and it was after i ordered i saw another plate of roast meat beside my order. omg. the roast meat looked damn good! its like u can see clear defined layers of the fat and the meat.. it looked like it sparked! hahah
dont worry hong kong, i will be back!
bumped into karen again! we were on the same flight here as well!
flight was almost delayed by about 45 mins.. effectively reached sg only around 1 plus 2. by the time i finished unpacking, it was almost around 4 plus.
still need to work tml.. duno how to die!
